Christian Petitto started his
teaching experience in the martial arts within ITF (International Taekwon-do
federation) at the age of 14, teaching all levels from children to adults and
then continuing his training at the INEF University (National Institute of
Physical Education) in Buenos Aires, where he also refined his teaching
technique by studying psychology, pedagogy and methodology of learning.
His first approach to tango was in
2005, when asked by a friend who at the time was giving group tango lessons to
join a class; he fell totally in love with the music and the dance. Since then
he simply could not stop dancing and started taking lessons with Carla
Calcaterra and several other teachers such as Julio Balmaceda, Pablo Veron,
Gabriel Angio, Omar Quiroga & Veronica Palacios, Sebastian Arce &
Mariana Montes, and Fernando Sanchez & Ariadna Naveira.
His tango teaching experience
started in 2010 when he organised group tango lessons at various London locations such as Imperial College ,
Notting Hill Art Centre and the Troubadour Gallery. Since then, he's been doing
classes in many other venues such as Milonga 8, The Dome, Tango Terra,
Carablanca, as well teaching private classes. Currently, he is teaching
group lessons at RADA (Royal Academic of Dramatic Art)
Christian has also performed in
tango shows in restaurants like Buenos Aires ,
Latin Corner and Russian Revels, in cultural events organised by the Anglo
Argentine Society, in the Vintage Cirque-Olympique Cabaret produced by
Richard Peacock at Hackney House and also in milongas, like at the special
Seven Sins Milonga in Brighton . His
first dancing partner was Laura de Altube; nowadays he is in a partnership with
Nayla Vacca.
Christian Petitto stars in many
videos including DJ Shadow's music video 'Listen' and Nicola Benedetti's
